REPORT OF ISD TELECONFERENCE
AUGUST 9, 2001
By Sharryn Ross, Chair, ISD Liaison Committee

Premium Processing

1. INS is still working on setting up a procedure with the Department of State for consular notification in Premium Processing cases.

2. If members want the Premium Processing approval notice to be sent back by express means (e.g., Federal Express, UPS), a preaddressed mailer should be enclosed with the I-907. Moreover, it would be good to flag this request, e.g., by indicating it in brightly colored marker on the form.

3. INS verified that there is no bar to employees providing the Premium Processing fee checks. We informed INS that some cases have been returned when the employee signed the Premium Processing fee check, and they said this was an error. However, only the employer or the attorney can sign the I-907.

4. In response to our inquiry as to the procedure at each Service Center for confirming receipt of the petition for Premium Processing, INS stated that currently only the Vermont Service Center is sending receipts by email. This has been a pilot procedure and the other Service Centers hope to follow suit eventually.

5. Shortage of Tetanus Vaccine. INS is aware of the shortage of tetanus available now and has established an automatic waiver of the requirement in adjustment of status cases for any vaccine that contains tetanus through September 30, 2001.

6. Approval of Adjustment of Status. In response to our inquiry as to when an adjustment of status application is considered completed, INS stated it is when the case is approved by the Service Center.
