Green Card Options for Professionals It depends on what categories you are qualified for, which can be determined based on your occupation, your achievements, and your activity. If you are on the top of your field, you can apply for your green card under EB-1 as a person of "Extraordinary Ability". If you are a professor or a research scientist/associate and you have made some achievements, you may apply for your green card under EB-1 "Outstanding Researcher/Professor". If you are undertaking a project that is in the national interest and you are playing a critical role in the project, you may apply your green card through EB-2 "National Interest Waiver". If you have all above conditions, you can apply for your green card through "Extraordinary Ability", "Outstanding Professor or Researcher" or "National Interest Waiver", OR combination of any two or three at the same time.
